Ever since I’ve completed Inazuma’s archon quest, I’ve been struck by how poorly Signora’s role was handled. She was introduced as the first Harbinger you encounter in the game, only to be written off far too early without the chance for proper character development, lore exploration, or meaningful presence in the story. Her execution felt so rushed and wasteful, especially when compared to other Harbingers like Scaramouche and Arlecchino, who received deeper arcs and eventually became playable.
And what’s worse is that Hoyo’s decision to eliminate her has fueled a wave of toxicity within the Genshin community, where Signora mains are often ridiculed and harassed simply for wanting her back. As someone who has seen both the mishandling of her character and the unfair treatment of her fans, I’ve grown increasingly empathetic towards the fanbase that refuses to let her be forgotten.
This series is my attempt to set the record straight. I’ve decided to create this as some kind of receipts to anticipate her eventual resurrection and playability, in the hopes that when she does become playable, we could say “I told you” to everyone who’s been doubting or making fun of us this whole time, and that we’re not “on copium” like they’ve always said. Whether you’re a fellow Signora main, a skeptic, or just curious, I hope these posts shed light on why Signora’s story is far from over.
Part 1 (2025-04-24) - A foundational look at why Signora’s return makes sense from a business perspective, with early speculations that were made during 5.5 (outdated ones marked for clarity).
Part 2 (2025-08-16) - “Was Signora ever meant to be playable?”: an investigation into Genshin’s beta assets and early closed betas/dev builds to figure out whether she had been planned to meet her fate since the game’s early development.
Part 3 (2025-09-19) - “We’re so back”: Further speculations on why she will be playable, with new evidence that strongly hints towards Hoyo’s plans to bring her back into relevance after being neglected for over 4 years.
